Grandparents Re-parenting Grandchildren
For many years Nanaimo Family Life Association has offered a program called Grandparents Re-parenting. In the meantime the Parent Support Services Society of BC has been working with many different communities around the province to help establish Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Circles. On two previous occasions the Parent Support Services Society of BC collaborated with Nanaimo Family Life and the Justice Access Centre to host information sessions regarding a new legal resource for grandparents. The Parent Support Services Society of BC and Nanaimo Family Life are collaborating again in hopes of expanding the local support network for grandparents raising grandchildren. We would like to invite you to an initial meeting at the Nanaimo Family Life office located at 1070 Townsite Road on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 10am to 12 noon. This meeting will provide you with an opportunity to meet other grandparents raising grandchildren and share information, ideas and resources.

Beyond Blame
The Beyond Blame Program exists to address the root causes of family violence and abuse in our community. We do so by supporting men to take personal responsibility for, and end their abusive behaviours. We offer a life-changing, therapeutic 20-week group for men who are willing to look at the way they misuse power in their relationships. The program also includes ongoing individual support to the men and their families a they struggle with the aftermath of abuse. This program is much more than anger management-we teach people how to live well with others. Beyond Blame does not believe in shaming, disrespecting or punishing. We believe in supporting what is possible while holding participants accountable for their actions and interactions while in the program and beyond. We are currently accepting applications for the next group that starts February 10th 2010. If you want more information or to register please call our office reception at 250-754-3331
