Are you (or is someone you know) 55+ and interested in increasing physical mobility and social connections? The Right Neighbourly Walking Program might be what you are looking for!
The Right Neighbourly Walking Program is a free walking program using Nordic poles that is designed for older adults who are living in their own homes.
Each Nordic pole-walking class has two sections:
• a 45-minute walking class including a warm-up, walk, and cool-down
• a 30-minute social engagement activity
Participants learn how to use Nordic walking poles as a mobility tool and build strength at their own pace in a friendly, welcoming environment. We also aim to inspire a sense of comfort in and appreciation for our shared urban environment.
Programs run as a series, beginning from various meeting points across Nanaimo.
Check out the weekly dates and locations for walking groups in 2020 below!
The 55+ Summer Walking Club will meet every Tuesday at 2 pm in the Bowen Park Complex parking lot from July 7 – August 25. From there, participants will explore the variety of trails within Bowen Park.
