Safe Seniors Strong Communities (SSSC) was created in partnership with the United Way and BC211 to offer support during the Covid 19 pandemic in response to the need for physical distancing.
SSSC provides food security among isolated, housebound, and/or low-income seniors in Nanaimo. Food meets seniors where they are at thanks to the work of our volunteers.
Our Services are:
Grocery Shopping Pickup and Delivery:
Grocery pick up and delivery are free of charge
Tuesdays: Country Grocer
Thursdays: Superstore
Fridays: Save-On Foods
NFLA will initially pay for groceries; clients will reimburse the agency. The volunteers will deliver groceries and the receipt. Payment is collected by the NFLA bookkeeper. We accept e-transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, cheque, and cash.
Prepared Meals Delivery:
Delivery of prepared meals occur on Thursdays. Each meal comes with three entrees, salad, and soup (optional). Menu options are available from Nanaimo Foodshare. Meals are delivered by our volunteers free of charge.
