The St. Peters Temporary Winter Shelter is a shelter based at the St. Peters Roman Catholic Church at 301 Machleary street in Nanaimo. This shelter links those experiencing homelessness to a safe sheltering option during the winter weather. The Winter Shelter operates through the winter months November 1st – April 1st. Shelter users are able to access the shelter every night. Meals are also provided.
“The best solution to homelessness is permanent housing with supports, however, the winter shelter ensures protection from the cold, a safe and clean space to sleep, and access to much needed resources.” say’s Nanaimo Family Life’s executive director, Deborah Hollins.
This winter shelter is made possible through funding from BC Housing.
