Volunteer with Safe Seniors, Strong Communities

We are currently needing volunteers for our Safe Seniors, Strong Communities program. Please note, all volunteers are required to complete a criminal record check.

The SSSC program was created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, with aims to support isolated, at-risk seniors during these hard times. The SSSC program provides help with grocery shopping, meal delivery, prescription pick ups, and friendly visiting phone calls.

Be a Grocery Shopper/Meal Delivery Volunteer:

If you have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, we would love to have you as grocery shopper/meal delivery volunteer.

Our grocery shopping program runs 3 days/week. Volunteer for one shop a week or help out with them all. The shops typically are scheduled 11-12 pm. The schedule is below:

  • Tuesdays: Dufferin Country Grocer
  • Thursdays: Superstore
  • Fridays: Country Club Save on Foods

Our meal delivery program runs once/week. Deliver frozen, comfort-food classics to isolated seniors on Thursdays.

Be a Friendly Visiting Volunteer:

Our friendly visiting program pairs volunteers with isolated seniors for weekly phone calls, to check in and partake in friendly conversation. This program has really brightened our clients’ lives and our volunteers have found it an enriching program.

If you are interested in volunteering in any of our SSSC programs, please contact:
