Practicum Students

Since 1967, Nanaimo Family Life Association has empowered over 70,000 individuals through accessible counselling, senior support programs, life skills workshops, and more. We are an inclusive, dynamic, and compassionate organization, rooted in community service.

Who We’re Looking For

We offer practicum placements for:

• Master’s & Diploma Counselling Students
• Social Work Students

As a practicum student, you’ll gain valuable client hours and experience with a wide range of client needs. NFLA is committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

What You’ll Experience

• Direct counselling and client work
• Participation in Collective Learning & Peer Consultations
• Co-facilitation of Life Skills workshops
• Shadowing experienced counsellors
• Exposure to diverse programs including youth, seniors, and community services

Requirements

• External Supervisor (provided by your institution)
• Interview with our Practicum Coordinator
• Current Resume
• Criminal Record Check
• References
