Volunteering with Nanaimo Family Life Association is a meaningful way to give back to the community while supporting programs that foster connection, resilience, and well-being. Volunteers play a vital role in helping individuals access services, build skills, and feel supported. By sharing your time and talents, you contribute to positive change, strengthen community ties, and gain valuable experience that enriches both your life and the lives of others
Support your community by becoming a Volunteer Counsellor! Our program offers intensive training (valued at $2,250, participant cost $400) to 12 committed individuals from diverse backgrounds each year. After training, you’ll give back 100 hours of counselling service, helping make mental health support accessible and affordable for all.
Requirements: Completion of VIU’s Level 1 & 2 Counselling Training (or equivalent 48 hrs of counselling training). If you don’t have the prerequisites, contact the coordinator at a_finnamore@nflabc.org.
💡 Training attendance is mandatory. If you miss a session due to illness, you’ll be offered a spot in the next cohort.
