Become an Individual/Couples Counsellor

The purpose of our Volunteer Counselling Services are to provide affordable and accessible counselling services that support and enhance the coping abilities of individuals and families.

Each year we recruit  twelve to fourteen individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to attending and completing our intensive training program and returning 100 hours of service to the community.  You are required to invest $250 into this training (valued at $2,750.00).

Training Requirements:  Those interested in becoming a Volunteer Counsellor must have completed Level 1 & 2 Counselling Training (available through Vancouver Island University) or an equivalency of 48 hours of counselor training.  If you don’t have the prerequisites contact coordinator at m_maarika@nflabc.org.

The deadline has passed for the 2019 cohort of volunteer counsellors. Applications for the 2020 cohort will open in the spring of 2020 – please check back, or email m_maarika@nflabc.org for more details.
